A rare moment indeed. I agree with my Lib Dem MP Wera Hobhouse 100%. Facial Recognition and other new surveillance technologies need reigning in and controlling asap.
Freedom of movement in every way must be maintained. We need less blanket surveillance not more. But don’t think this is only facial recognition. There is also gait recognition and cameras that look inside your private spaces without your consent, and those that monitor your vehicle’s every move, and those that already monitor your bank accounts, and digital currency will bring all of these technologies together to control us all in ways we can’t yet envisage. We should all be very worried regardless of political perspective.
Perhaps this is finally an issue that can unite those from all perspectives and bring our nation together…?
